A while back I read a story online that I haven’t been able to locate since, and was wondering if anyone here had heard of it and has a link to that story. I haven’t been able to find it after much Googling.

The story is about a German abortionist who began to have dreams in which he was in a beautiful place where he saw hundreds of children playing. When he came near any of them, the children screamed “murderer!” and ran away from him. St. Thomas Aquinas was there protecting the children.

He had the dream multiple times and eventually learned that the children were the souls of all the babies he had killed. He abandoned his abortion practice as a result of the dreams.

Has anyone else heard of this story?

Quite a story. Tell us if you find out what the source is.

Well, six months after the original post, the story I was looking for showed up as news in the Catholic News Agency today. Turns out the doctor is Serbian, not German. No wonder I couldn’t find this story when I googled it. . .

Another ‘champion of abortion’ becomes defender of life: the story of Sotjan Adasevic

Excerpt:
Madrid, Nov 12, 2008 / 09:21 pm (CNA).- The Spanish daily “La Razon” has published an article on the pro-life conversion of a former “champion of abortion.” Stojan Adasevic, who performed 48,000 abortions, sometimes up to 35 per day, is now the most important pro-life leader in Serbia, after 26 years as the most renowned abortion doctor in the country.
“The medical textbooks of the Communist regime said abortion was simply the removal of a blob of tissue,” the newspaper reported. “Ultrasounds allowing the fetus to be seen did not arrive until the 80s, but they did not change his opinion. Nevertheless, he began to have nightmares.”
In describing his conversion, Adasevic “dreamed about a beautiful field full of children and young people who were playing and laughing, from 4 to 24 years of age, but who ran away from him in fear. A man dressed in a black and white habit stared at him in silence. The dream was repeated each night and he would wake up in a cold sweat. One night he asked the man in black and white who he was. ‘My name is Thomas Aquinas,’ the man in his dream responded. Adasevic, educated in communist schools, had never heard of the Dominican genius saint. He didn’t recognize the name”
“Why don’t you ask me who these children are?” St. Thomas asked Adasevic in his dream.
“They are the ones you killed with your abortions,’ St. Thomas told him.
“Adasevic awoke in amazement and decided not to perform any more abortions,” the article stated.

I love the way God works 🙂

I wonder why St. Thomas was in the dream? Is he a patron of children?

I don’t mean to start an argument, but the story says St. Thomas was there to protect those children in the vision. Where was this good Saint when these children were being aborted in the first place? It makes very little sense to protect someone after they have already been killed and in a place where nobody can do further harm to them.😦

I’m sorry, but that part bothers me.😊

Think of the tens of thousands of children that the doctor would not abort in the future as a result of those dreams.

In heaven praying for the abortionist’s conversion, sometimes it takes awhile to break through the stone of a harden heart.
How can I find more stories about abortionists who had visions like this?

I did some delving, and I think I have discovered the REASON why the repentent abortionist saw St. Thomas Aquinas with the children.

St. Thomas Aquinas is the Patron Saint of Catholic Education. What better a subject to EDUCATE Catholics (and everyone) on… than the hideousness of the sin of abortion?

Makes sense now, huh? 😉

In the same vein, he is a Doctor of the Church and one of the most important theologians and philosophers. Aquinas’ classic Summa Theologica is still heavily taught and used. His argument of the First Uncaused Cause is still a valid and argued philosophical rationale for the existence of God. If we do not have a First Uncaused Cause then we have an infinite regress of cause which is logically unsupportable.

I think the doctor saw Aquinas because Aquinas was the best missionary for an educated, skeptical man such as himself , rather than because Aquinas has the singular role of protecting children in heaven.

Another reason may be that this man was ignorant of the fact that he was killing children, and God showed him mercy by allowing a Saint to educate him on it. The ammount of knowlege we have about our actions dictates our motives for our deeds.

It’s the conversion of ST. Paul all over again!👍
