Because we fear that He may return on a weekday and ask us the question, Why are My doors locked?
It’s very impressive that this is able to work for your church. Just out of curiosity I’d love to know the size of your church. Like I said I know this can work on a small scale, as a business man I’m curious what the limit of that size would be before the sled hits the tree?

Please don’t take this next question the wrong way because I mean no disrespect it’s just your question about you fearing Jesus asking why the doors are locked got me curious.

So do you guys have someone sitting in the church 24/7 then? The reason I ask is because I would think the more fearful question would be “Where are you?” In my mind I would think Jesus would care more about why His house is empty than whether or not there were locks on the door.

Just my thoughts,

God Bless

surely by the fact that almost none of the Catholics coming there pay their tithing
Can you blame them? With how financially corrupt and irresponsible the Church as a whole has become, as good stewards, our money would be better used going to charities or missions that don’t have corruption to hide like the Church does.

I’m refusing to donate to the Church until I know my money isn’t going to just line a law suit, or pay a church secretary who steals money from the Church. All of which happens too much.

  1. An idea worth billions to get your attention:
Stop wasting food. Instead, you should offer mystery boxes to your customers with random items that you would soon throw away anyway because they have been sitting on your warmers too long.

Worth billions and also worth nothing.
  1. A gift to restore your faith.
The solution to clothingism, your word for it is racism.

For some, clothing isn’t always a choice. Looking like a gangster mostly means, I am afraid of what might happen if I don’t look like a gangster. If you would be afraid to live somewhere, they too are afraid. Fear is universal. People group up and practice looking tough when they are afraid.

For others, clothing is always a choice. While wearing dress clothes these people will see you as a professional, equal to everyone else. Professionals are given respect and have no need to fear one another. Also, no one important can tell the difference between a $10 suit and a $1,000 suit.

If people don’t understand, you can have them swap clothes.

If you cannot even correctly name a problem, you cannot hope to solve it.
  1. Now that your faith is restored, a message that you’ve been ignoring:
Laundry has steps. Sometimes you have skip the dryer, so that your clothes don’t shrink.

Well at least we now know where your name comes from. I never thought it would be possible but your post reads exactly like you are mumbling.

Could you maybe explain what you are talking about here?

OR

Maybe you could actually respond to someones post here and we could have a good back and forth conversation.

God Bless

A portion of our collection goes to the Diocese, in the US that is standard.

The bulk stays here, in the parish to pay the bills.

Also, no one important can tell the difference between a $10 suit and a $1,000 suit.
Huh. My mother is a tailor. I have been taught all of my life how to distinguish quality workmanship and quality materials. One may search and find good quality at resale shops, knowing how to do this is part of good stewardship!

Remember, Christ’s garment was of such high quality that the soldiers all wanted to keep it and had a contest to see who would win it!

OK…I’ve been told that the money goes to the diocese for redistribution. Maybe those individuals were A) wrong or B) really bad at wording what they wanted to say.

I think collection has become a big “hub-ub” recently where the wife and kids are at. There was just a letter in the bulletin about the low collection numbers…and something about how even though the money goes to the diocese, which filed chapter 11 (I think due to a scandal cover-up), that people still need to continue to give.

IDK, like I said I could be wrong (it’s been known to happen and I wouldn’t be surprised if I am here). That was just what I was told.

And with the financial issues there, it could be very different.

Would not be the first thing that is different about that parish 🙂

Many parishes will publish a financial statement as an insert to the bulletin at the end of the year listing how much they received in the collection basket, how much they received online, how many people donated, how much they received from other sources like fundraisers, and where the money went, such as diocesan assessment, special projects like renovations, and operating expenses. It also shows if the parish was able to balance its books or suffered a shortfall.

I don’t doubt that if the diocese is in chapter 11 due to sexual abuse litigation payouts, then a lot of people have probably stopped giving to the parish because they’re angry for one reason or another.

I’ll watch for that. The wife has been a member there for 4-5 years or so and I don’t think I’ve seen the detailed financials before, just the total collected and how short they are.

It must be a thing…I’ve seen it brought up a lot lately. I need to look into it more, but I think the chapter 11 might be to avoid payouts (or cap them?). I read it in passing, so I may have missed something. I know at least 3 diocese in basically covering 1/3 of the state have recently filed 11.

You’ll never be contributing to the church again, then? How could we as lay people ever be sure that no church employee is stealing anything, ever? At some point you just have to have faith.

It would probably be safer to dedicate a chapel for that, with access limited to registered parishioners by electronic entry card or key fob. Video surveillance would probably be necessary, too. Leaving the doors to the church unlocked is way to risky in this day and age without some kind of 24 hour security, preferably armed. At least in most highly populated areas. Crime is rampant around here, 100 miles from the big city. Needless to say the churches are locked tight overnight. That hasn’t prevented vandalism. Or even arson.

Are you addressing anyone specific? If so, which post’s content prompted your response?

I’d just find another diocese that should receive the money. If I was aware of systematic corruption in my own diocese, and I was reasonably sure the diocese next door didn’t have those issues, I’d just send my money to that one.

That sounds a lot more reasonable than refusing to donate money unless you are absolutely sure someone, somewhere, isn’t doing something wrong.
