It’s the lesbians who are going to go to war. Already I’ve seen a great deal of anger and annoyance towards transgender women because lesbians are being told they have to consider a transgender woman as a sexual partner, have to accept transgender women into their support groups, have to accept transgender women in their activities… and many lesbian women are pretty upset because they want male free zones and see this as another way men are forcing themselves into their safe spaces.

The more radical the demands become, the more frustrated that aspect of the LGBT community is getting.
 Seriously though, who cares? I mean, women are always over-reacting and getting emotional over nothing.

I’m so sorry, but this is all new to me. What does ‘cis-gender’ mean?

I thought vago-Americans were people on a vegan diet who spend a lot of time in Las Vegas.

I’m confused. So ‘transwoman’ indicates a person born male who is transitioning to female?
My understanding is that a transwoman is a biological male who presents as a woman. There need be no transition either planned or in process or even any cross-dressing. Just one person claiming to be the opposite sex, and apparently that has to be accepted. The same would apply to a trans-man, who is a biological woman claiming to be a man.

Regardless of whether this story is accurate or not, Planet Fitness has the right to kick the woman out for refusing to share the locker room BECAUSE that is their private property and they can sell whatever they want to whomever they want.

Is that right and moral? No. Of course not, and Planet Fitness (if they did it) were a bunch of jerks and idiots. But they have all the right in the world to kick anyone they want off their private property.

Yes, they are required to accept a biological man as a woman.

I think it means a biological male who actually believes he is male or a biological woman who presents as a woman!
Thank you! I think I will stay away from conversations about gender, ‘trans’ and all the rest of it. Seems to me the potential for innocent misunderstandings and people taking offense where none was intended is just too dangerous for comfort.

I don’t get the whole assigned male/female at birth. It’s not some random assignment. A medical professional looks at the newborn and records what they see. If there is uncertainty (more common than people think) genetic testing is done.

I’m going to say it. It’s a rhetorical question, of course, but I can’t help myself.

When did it become okay to subjugate HER rights as a PERSON?
This sums up the transgender movement. It appropriates your rights to another person.

A transgender individual who is identified as a woman is termed transgender woman. Or trans woman.

I don’t know if the article is using the words wrong on purpose to dig at the idea of transgender people, or they just haven’t bothered to get the terminology right.

Bottom line: no males allowed in female bathrooms or locker rooms. No males allowed to participate in female sports. I don’t care how they want to identify themselves. How many of these politically correct “Im.more tolerant than you are” types would want a man in the same bathroom or locker room with their minor daughter? How many would want them unfairly competing with their daughters in sports. This whole thing is nothing more than political agitation and activism for a miniscule minority to trump the rights of the majority.

But I do concede sometimes this is culture specific.
In some European culture they just have unisex change rooms for many years.
I´m european and I´ve seen much of europe, and mixed change rooms aren´t the norm in any country I visited. I haven´t been to scandinavia, maybe there it is a thing, but definately not in the rest of europe, thank god.

I’m class of… I better not say… The Chinese Government is watching 🇨🇳

I worked for an university. The incoming email of the trans/queer/lgtb group let us shake our heads every time - so many X-es in the 3-sentence long adress to make sure no one could be offended was just so odd.

Cisgender is the opposite of transgender. It means your internal sense of your gender lines up with the gender everyone else says you are. Most people are cisgender.

(The prefix “cis-“ means “on the same side” and is the opposite of “trans-“ meaning “on the opposite side.” It doesn’t show up in words as often as “trans-“ but you see it in chemistry and geography terms.)

Thanks so much for the explanation! The things I am learning on CAF!

I was born male, and I do believe I will continue to refer to myself as a man, rather than cis-gender.
