and moron denoted someone whose IQ fell between 51 and 70.
And “mentally retarded” was introduced in place of “moron” due to the slow stigmatization, and now itself is considered offensive.

similarly for some terms on color.

“Cis” is just the opposite of “trans” eg. Cisalpine Gaul vs. Transalpine Gaul.
I did understand that.

But what do they call folks who are attracted to trans-gendered individuals?

Most straight, heterosexual, cis men just aren’t interested in women with male plumbing. On my most liberal day, that would be a “bridge too far”.

I have read many articles that refer to transsexual individuals by their biological sex, and I don’t think it’s because the reporter doesn’t know the terms that these individuals prefer. I would guess it’s because they want to underline the objective reality that a man who feels that he is a woman is still a man, and vice versa. It’s the same reason some people insist on using pronouns that correspond to one’s biological sex - no matter how many surgeries a man undergoes, he will still be objectively a man, regardless of how he feels about himself, so to call him “she” muddies the waters and makes it sound like the person is actually a woman. And, in my opinion it normalizes something that’s actually outside the norm and should be viewed as such.

That would not be PC because it suggests that transgender men are not “real” men. Now if the word “man” were used for both, I suppose that would be all right.

Ask the individual in question how they identify their sexual orientation. There could be lots of orientations, depending on the combination of people.

A cisgendered male attracted to a transgendered woman could identify as straight. Or bisexual. Or pansexual. Or any of the other -sexuals that people choose to identify as.

Isn’t pansexual essentially the same as bisexual? It’s hard to keep up with the terminology.

The former porn star Robin Byrd identified herself as trisexual, meaning she was ready to try anything sexual.

I’ve also heard the terms androphile and gynophile which refer to people of what ever sex that are attracted to men or women. For example I would be considered an androphilic ciswoman.
However by androphilic I’m only into biological men, if I was into trans men I’d consider myself bisexual.

A lot of transwomen consider themselves lesbians which I find interesting as if these people were all women trapped in mens bodies you would surely expect the majority to be androphilic like the majority of women.

There is a lot of tension between gynophilic transwomen who feel gynophilic women should consider them potential partners whereas the women think that lesbian is a female only term and if they wanted to date people with penises they would be dating men.

A cisgendered male attracted to a transgendered woman could identify as straight. Or bisexual. Or pansexual. Or any of the other -sexuals that people choose to identify as.
How about a cisgendered male who is only attracted to women without penises. Would that men be considered “straight”?

Interesting. I suppose that goes to show we need to pay attention to the ways our language develops. If it reaches the point where we have to choose other terms, then we can do so.

I know most of the autism stuff I read uses the term “neurotypical” rather than “normal.” And I suppose that is more descriptive anyway. But in casual conversation, most people would have no idea what I was talking about. 😜
“Neurotypical” is a term that I see in the Internet forums I visit for people with ADHD as well. I prefer that to the term “normal” when talking about psychiatric conditions because the opposite of “normal” is “abnormal” which has come to have a negative connotation. According to Oxford Dictionaries, “abnormal” is defined as “deviating from what is normal or usual, typically in a way that is undesirable or worrying.” As someone with ADHD, I wouldn’t want to be described as “abnormal” and like the opposite of “neurotypical” much better which is “neurodivergent”. This seems like a more neutral term and does not have the sense of disapproval that “abnormal” does. Saying that someone is “neurodivergent” also seems like a better term to use than saying that they are “mentally ill.”

Why wouldn’t news outlets report on this, especially local news? They have a responsibility to report what is going on in their area no matter how shady the business or embarrassing the behavior of elected officials. Being first with legit news is the goal of any reporter. MSN and LGBT news would be reacting to it if nothing else.

It is quite believable that most news reporters would only report things that can get lots of views and money as opposed to these things. I don’t know what MSN is or why they would react. I can see why the GT news wouldn’t want to make an article that shows a transgender person in a negative light.

That it happened is tragic and I’m wondering if I should link to the number of sexual assaults on transwomen in men’s prisons. Or how rampant sexual assault is in prisons, jails, and youth detention centers.

Which it would.

MSM - major secular media. I see my typo, now.

Depending on the source. Some report on anything that affects the community. It might be just a blog but they can be really aggressive with their reporting. But in th jiz case it’s a bunch of Christian or conservative news outlets whose original source was Lifesite News. Spreading bigotry and hate is more important than using a reputable source.

The one where one associates people with hatred and bigotry because they are against a victim group.
Its not like you know their intention.

The only ones reporting this are those types. Catholic Answers, EWTN, and the majority of non-Catholic Christian media are not reporting this. Are you unaware that Lifesite news a particularly bad source?
