It is a religion. Being based in reality or reason is not required, nor is some set amount of time of existence. Religions are started regularly by charismatic folks peddling a mishmash of new and old ideas.

My niece is a witch. She says so. Yes, she dances around in the full moon, etc. but frankly, it’s harmless fun. She is a good person. No Satanic rituals.

You are correct in saying that my mentioning of the worship of the Unknown God was off base. Looking back, I realize that. I am sorry that it detracted from my point. It muddled accidental worship and worship of unknown. Those are two different things.

Here in the Philippines, local animist spirits are sometimes worshiped as elementals. They worship the spirit, not understanding that the spirit is actually demonic, not a divine part of nature. This is worship of the unknown.

When I was speaking about accidental participation in witchcraft I wasn’t speaking of intentional worship of the unknown. I am speaking about participation in rites which worship the demonic without active knowledge that the rite is witchcraft or is, in fact, an act of worship. I point back to the daughter of our benefactor mentioned above. She prayed the so-called ‘prayer’ devoutly, intending it to be fulfilled even though it was in a language she didn’t know, not understanding that it was a spell. She was not the originator of the witchcraft, but participated in it accidentally under false pretenses. Other examples are being invited to a party, only to find out that it is actually a ritualistic revel in worship of a local elemental spirits (I have also encountered instances of this here in the Philippines). The attendee did not know the purpose of the party, thinking it innocuous, but accidentally participated in the rite which was began before the party and concluded after with animal sacrifices. The proximity and involvement in the rite, even if it was unwilling, can attract the attention of the demonic spirit it invokes.

My little brother is a “nothing”, but went to one of those in what they call “sky dress.” (what others would call “buck naked”)

“Harmless fun” became “truly embarrassing major case of poison oak” 😱😳

It must be sad to have Trump living rent free in one’s head. “Sad!” as the man himself says.

There’s better things to be than Trump-obsessed, and a Trump-obsessed troll isn’t one of them.
