St Josemaria used to say that you should always drown evil in a sea of good. This, then, is an opportunity for grace. It is an opportunity to thank God that we have, because of His grace, have been chosen by Him and we responding to that call, continue to follow Him.
Let us take a moment to remember St Peter’s words on this topic: Petri I 5:8-11
***8 Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. 9 Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. 11 To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. ***Let us pray hard and do penance for the conversion of that soul whom satan has used to try and disturb our Peace.
An onslaught of prayer and fruits of penance upon that soul will be far more efficacious for that soul than is the effect of the evil perpetrated through that soul on us.
I would ask that each member who has received that mail, indeed I would ask every member of Catholic Forums, to do one serious act of penance on this day of Mercy for the conversion of the soul of this wandering one. The pray hard that the merits of all these acts of Penance be applied to this one soul in need of God’s mercy.
Let nothing disturb your Peace.

Great post, Fergal.
Having just returned from Mass, I’ve reflected on this quite a bit. Too often, we seem to get caught up in our own self-righteousness that we forget that the only way that the evil in our world will be defeated, the only way that we will bring God back into our broken world, is if Christians never tire of speaking of and living the mercy of God. We need to stop judging, stop condemning, stop fighting, and simply live a life based upon the imitation of Christ.
On this Feast of Divine Mercy, may the Good Lord shower His blessings upon us all, and especially upon those in most need of forgiveness.

That’s not pornography. Highly provocative yes as to the intent…but no one was naked and there was no sexual act…thus not pornography.

The PM was to provocate people here, completely uncalled for and inappropriate, especially when there are some here who are trying to recover from watching pornographic material in their younger days.

A vulgar, highly sexual word appeared in the caption, along with a link to a pornographic website. The link to a porn website and the vulgar caption make the message itself pornographic. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

That’s not pornography.
It’s a cuss word. I actually didn’t know of the link to such a website, however. The image in itself wasn’t. Provocative, yes, but there was nothing nude, it CAN’T be pornography.

Explicit depiction. People with clothes on, isn’t considered explicit by pornography standards. The intention was there, but not the explicitness. It’s rather obvious, whoever posted it, didn’t post anything nude, because he could be prosecuted for doing so.
That wasn’t explicit, there was no nudity, or any sexual act, though it was provocative.

The link to a pornographic website makes the message a pornographic one. I am well aware of the legal definitions involved and do not need them provided, though Wikipedia is hardly a source that I would offer or accept, if I did require one.
I do not not know why you seek to somehow vindicate the message as non-pornographic, but I wish you would cease and desist, or take these rationalizations elsewhere.

Maybe Harmony1988 will insist the link does NOT make it pornographic because it is a LINK and a link is NOT pornography and that this is not about “vindication” but simply about trying to get it through our thick skulls what the definition of pornography is. The administrators said it was pornographic and that is good enough for me.

Wow. We really can’t talk about anything without getting into an argument. Let’s just agree that the message was inappropriate, and learn to get along. Christ would be ashamed if He could see some of the stuff that people write on these forums about their brothers and sisters in the Faith.
