Sept. 20 (UPI) – Bahrain’s Interior Ministry said Sunday that the country prevented an Iran-backed terror attack.

Local media reported that the plot was backed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in retaliation for the killing of its former commander Qassem Soleimani in a U.S. drone strike in January.

“The Ministry of Interior managed to thwart a huge terrorist plot in the Kingdom of Bahrain that received support and funding from Iran and members of the terrorist Revolutionary Guard Corps,” Akhbar Al-Khaleej media said.

Bahrain is just a little nation out in the Gulf. In case anyone is interested.

This sounds pretty serious. Iran is talking a bit hostile I am sorry to hear.

What’s been happening with the new relations between Israel and selected Arab countries is that this is the Sunni-dominated countries deciding they need to explicitly side with Israel against Iran. Further deciding that it was okay to set the Palestinians aside in favor of what they feel is the greater peril. There have always been back channel communications between Israel and many of these countries, now they’re in the process of being made explicit, not just Egypt and Jordan as before.

This could still fall apart, but no denying this is a heck of a step forward.
