Hello,

there are many more serious prayer requests here, but if you have a minute please add my intentions to your prayers.

For the past several months, I’ve been really confused if I’m supposed to be Catholic or Orthodox. I feel that recently, God has given me an answer. However, I can’t figure out what the answer is… I feel like it is there, but I don’t understand it. Maybe I’m not ready. Please pray that God would help me know what to do… I really need the Sacraments.

Also, I am very sick with the flu… but I really can’t afford to be sick right now. I’m doing a practicum for teachers college and I need to be back at school for Monday.

Thank you!! God bless:)

Dear Lord help Monica find the answers she is looking for and guide her footsteps along the way.

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.

Amen.

God bless you Monica x

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

I feel very grateful that you are at least deep enough in your faith that {{this}} is the type of decision you are facing concerning yoru faith. So many jsut struggle with even being a believer.

May God grant you the clarity you seek, Amen,

Today is the Feast Day of St. Josaphat.

St. Josaphat, please pray for Monica4316 and guide her to the fullness of the Truth.

Saint Josaphat (c.1580 - 1623)
He was born in the Ukraine of Orthodox parents. In 1595 the Union of Brest brought the Ruthenian Church into communion with Catholic Rome while still preserving its own liturgy. The result was a schism within the church itself, with one party wanting to remain Orthodox and in the orbit of Moscow and Constantinople, while the other accepted the Union. Matters were complicated by the presence of the Greek Uniates, a remnant of a century-old attempt at church union (who remain a living church to this day).
Josaphat joined the first monastery of the order of St Basil to be united to the Catholic Church: he was the first person to do so. He was ordained priest and, eventually and reluctantly, appointed bishop of Polotsk in 1617. Although Sigismund III Vasa, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, supported the union, the local aristocracy were against it because it threatened their control of ecclesiastical benefices. Plotting with the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, who visited the Ukraine in 1621, they stirred up trouble and as a result Josaphat was murdered by a mob in 1623 while on a pastoral visit to Vitebsk.

Upon further reading from today’s Liturgy of the Hours,
it appears
God really has a message for you!

Here is part of a reading from Pope Pius XI’s encyclical “Ecclesiam Dei”:

" Both these distinctions fell to Josaphat, archbishop of Polock of the Slavonic rite of the Eastern Church. He is rightly looked upon as the great glory and strength of the Eastern Rite Slavs. Few have brought them greater honour or contributed more to their spiritual welfare than Josaphat, their pastor and apostle, especially when he gave his life as a martyr for the unity of the Church. He felt, in fact, that God had inspired him to restore world-wide unity to the Church and he realised that his greatest chance of success lay in preserving the Slavonic rite and Saint Basil’s rule of monastic life within the one universal Church.

"Concerned mainly with seeing his own people reunited to the See of Peter, he sought out every available argument which would foster and maintain Church unity. His best arguments were drawn from liturgical books, sanctioned by the Fathers of the Church, which were in common use among Eastern Christians, including the dissidents. Thus thoroughly prepared, he set out to restore the unity of the Church. A forceful man of fine sensibilities, he met with such success that his opponents dubbed him “the thief of souls.”

thank you everyone!!

The Phoenix, thank you for sharing about St Josaphat! I’ve never heard of this Saint before. It’s interesting because I’m also Eastern rite and Slavonic in background.

Do you know when he was canonized?

Thank you! 🙂

I don’t understand why God has given me this cross to carry. I often feel lead to the Orthodox church, and even had experiences where I felt (VERY strongly) that I would go to hell if I am not Orthodox… I was baptized Orthodox as a child and then became Catholic. But other times, I feel so much peace about being Catholic, and when I feel close to God, I feel peace about it… the first time I received Communion in the Catholic Church, afterwards I felt horrible, like I’m going to hell for being Catholic, it was the worst experience of my life. I felt like I was in hell already, I was in so much pain. But the next day, when I went to Confession and received Communion once more it was amazing! I’ve had many great experiences with the Eucharist after that. Maybe the first time, I didn’t receive worthily 😦 but I’m not sure why it happened, and I always wonder if I need to convert back. At this point, I’m not sure what to believe. Also when I feel lead to Orthodoxy and say ‘yes’, the feeling goes away and I feel Catholic again. For several months, I’ve been going back and forth like that. I don’t have any psychological problems, I’m not depressed and I don’t have an anxiety problem… this is the only thing I’m going through at the moment. Right now, I strongly feel that God has given me an answer, but I’m not yet at the point where I can understand it.

This week hasn’t been good at all. I just realized that I lost my voice, which is really bad, because I need it for Monday - I can’t miss any days in my practicum. I wouldn’t mind the health issues so much if I was good spiritually. But I know I desperately need Confession… and still don’t know where to go.

Maybe I’ll say a prayer to St Josaphat and St Peter for the truth.

thanks again for your help 🙂

Praying for you, Monica, that the Holy Spirit who is in charge of our sanctification will help you to see God’s will for you. If there is a Perpetual Adoration Chapel near your place, would be good if you could visit Our Lord and ask Him about His will for you.

May the Lord give you His peace!

Hail Mary …
