Please could someone tell me if a Requiem Mass, not celebrated in the context of a funeral, can be celebrated on a Sunday and replace the Mass of Sunday?
Recently a friend of mine died and had a requiem Mass held for her on a Sunday. The normal Masses are at 9.45 and 11.45am on Sunday, which took place as usual; we had the requiem Mass for her on Sunday evening. She lay overnight in the church and was interred on the Monday.
