Research about humility

Hello everyone!

I am trying to do some research on humility, and am trying to gather some noted literature from christian writers…
Can you propose some good books on this subject?

And also, what is more important, can you tell me which of the catholic fathers wrote the most/best about humility?

In yesterday’s “Magnificat” reading for Jan 22, 2012, there was a meditation on humility. I’ll get back with you on it and repost the author they quoted.
 
You might check the Old Catholic Encyclopedia for some info.

St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Bernard of Clairvaux would be the two saints I would recommend starting with. It was St. Bernard of Clairvaux who reportedly quipped when asked what the three most important virtues were said “Humilty, humility, humility.” 🙂

They’re a bit later than the Early Church Fathers, but they’re both Doctors of the Church.
 
Humility is recognizing the right order of things and accepting it.
