Research Paper - OL of Guadalupe

Hey guys

I am writing a paper for my Latin American class about Our Lady of Guadalupe and was just wondering if anyone knew of any good books or journals about the apparition.

The stuff I was able to fine in my University’s library and inter-loan system was writen by negative Protestants, so really quite useless for me.

I am focusing on the impact that devotion to her has on the Latin American people and how their devotion is played out in their lives.

I’d recommend one particular book that I own:
“A Handbook on Guadalupe” by Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, published by Park Press, Inc. It covers the following topics: 1. Intro to the Mother of the Americas, 2. Historical Roots of Guadalupe, 3. Principal Characters in the Guadalupe Drama, 4. The Tilma of Juan Diego, 5. Scientific Studies of the Tilma, 6. Where Miracles Abound, 7. Guadalupe in Society, 8. Guadalupe and the Mission of the Church, 9. The Theology and Spirituality of Guadalupe, 10. The Authority Behind Guadalupan Apparitions, 11. Nican Mopohua: Original Account of Guadalupe, 12. Visiting Shrines in Mexico.

I wish that there were more updated scientific information on the tilma itself. I am also skeptical about the conjectures that the stars and flowers on the tilma represent the stars in the sky when the image was imparted on the tilma and the mountains in Mexico. It doesn’t cover the canonization of Juan Diego or the controversy of his existence, but all in all, a very informative book.
 
the Mexican American Cultural Center in San Antonio sells several publications specifically on Hispanic popular piety, and OL Guadalupe in that context. I think the link is macc.org or something similar.
