EMHC’s and receiving in the hand are disciplines and not doctrines. That can be changed any time.
The Church says EMCH’s are permitted. The Church says receiving in the hand is permitted.
End of story. The Church position trumps individual dissenting complaining views on this.
People should grow up and accept what the Church says is valid.

I don’t think anyone contests that these are valid. I don’t think anyone contests the Church has a right to dictate practice. But that doesn’t mean the choice is wise or good. That is where people have a problem. There is no reason one has to accept the practice. One can freely disagree.

It is funny how the ‘shut up and be obedient’ idea is only applied to modern novelties. The same is never applied to ancient ideas and long standing practices. I mean if someone told people with SSA or divorced and remarried to ‘shut up and be obeident’ they’d be some monster. Very select application of authority is the hallmark of our time.

I really haven’t seen that in this forum or in real life. When people on this forum state the same thing “shut up and be obedient” in regards of the Church’s prohibition about divorce and remarriage, I never seen those opposed to this teaching call out those who uphold it as monsters or anything close to that. I think this is just a figment of your imagination.

I have no problem with it. And although I am not an EMHC I have my parish priest’s OK to take communion to my elderly mother. If I didn’t take it she wouldn’t have a chance to receive unless I could make an appointment with my priest to come to the house.
