I have a hard time resisting certain sins. Any advice?
Going by the above, what would one need to pray for if you had trouble being obedient? (ie. “Sweep the floor!” says mum, “Noooo!” I groan)Got to go with the prayer - and serious doses of it. But not just when you’re tempted. Pray about it first thing when you wake up in the morning and dont’ stop till you fall asleep!
And don’t focus on avoiding your particular sin - try to pray and think about the fact that you want to in fact cultivate the opposite virtue of your sin.
ie if you’re subject to sexual sin pray for the virtue of purity and chastity, if it’s habitual lying pray for the virtue of honesty, if it’s gluttony pray for the virtue of mastery of your appetites etc etc.
It’s pretty clear that the opposing virtue of the fault of disobedience would be … the virtue of obedience, no?Wow guys, these suggetions are waaaaay better than what I would have ever thought of!

Hey thanks! I don’t know how I could have not seen that…It’s pretty clear that the opposing virtue of the fault of disobedience would be … the virtue of obedience, no?It’s an important one - one of the big three that most religious vow to uphold along with poverty and chastity, and one that I have trouble with myself
In your case there’s only a slight psychological shift between praying to be obedient and praying not to be disobedient, but even that slight shift can have an impact, in that it phrases things in a positive and thus more palatable and understandable way.
