This announcement was made a couple weeks ago, but I notice nobody has shared the news here in CAF, so here goes.
The Archdiocese of Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada) has recently decided to restore the Permanent Diaconate. Up to now, deacons ordained in the Archdiocese have been single, celibate, men on their way to being ordained as priests. This change opens up the role to the general population of men, men who would like to play a larger role in the church, but who are not planning to become priests.
