Since Pope Benedict has restored the elements of ‘papal fashion’ like the winter mozzetta, camauro etc. how many here would like him to/not to restore the triple tiara . Viewpoint would be helpful.
That doesn’t answer my question “What useful purpose would it serve?”.Well Thistle, because it is a tradition. How’s that?

What useful purpose does it make for any of us to dress up?What difference does it make? Whether the Pope wears a triple tiara or not should not have any effect on anyone’s faith therefore what useful purpose would it serve bringing it back.
We are not discussing dressing up in general but of a specific item in particular. What useful purpose does it make for any of us to dress up?
I agree. The papal tiara was removed to emphasize the pope’s role as the “servant of the servants of God” and restore a sense of humility and service to the Petrine office. Yes, Peter was “Prince of the Apostles”, but he probably didn’t walk around with a crown on his head, and neither should his successors.Never! HH Paul VI laid it on the altar at the close of the council. Metaphorically and literally, it should never be picked up again. I’m all for solemnity and dignity, but the Vicar of Christ should NOT be crowned, unless like his Master, it’s with a crown of thorns. The papal investiture/inauguration is more than sufficient.
What’s “MILITANT Catholicism”?The holy Father SHOULD be crowned! We need a return of MILITANT Catholicism. The practice of Crowning the Pope has centuries of Tradition behind it.
The kind we don’t need. Jesus said,“If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto myself.” That’s the only kind of Catholicism that we need: the lifting up of Christ. What’s “MILITANT Catholicism”?
A radical inner change, The Gospel calls it “Conversion”What’s “MILITANT Catholicism”?
He’s probably already crowned with that… (metaphorically of courseNever! HH Paul VI laid it on the altar at the close of the council. Metaphorically and literally, it should never be picked up again. And the tiara helps because…A radical inner change, The Gospel calls it “Conversion”

I don’t recall the word “militant” being used in that connection. The word “militant” is applied to the “living” Church (the Church on Earth), which in the deaths of her members becomes the Church Expectant, and which will eventually become the Church Triumphant. In that sense, you’ve already got what you want, ie., the Church Militant is already here, present on the earth and has been for 2000 years. Beyond that, we don’t normally associate the word with positive connotations (witness the phrase “militant Islamic fundamentalists”). Further, I fail to see how the use of the papal tiara (a symbol of an age when the popes ruled over a very large physical territory) would prompt this “radical inner change,” which “The (sic) Gospel calls it “Conversion” .” I would say that those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus on the strength of a papal coronation have entirely missed the point of that same Gospel, which tells us that Christ set aside His Glory and emptied Himself for the salvation of the world.A radical inner change, The Gospel calls it “Conversion”

In truth, the Holy Father more than likely has (metaphorically, of course). We know that John Paul the Great was (physical illness, mounting disability, constantly misunderstood from the left and from the right). He’s probably already crowned with that… (metaphorically of course)
Please see the following link. The words “expectant” and “suffering” are interchangeable in this regard. The Members of the Church who are Dead, are called the “Church suffering”
That is, according to that Fount of Catholic Truth . The Baltimore Catechism No.2
