It seems since the church ended the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel at the end of Mass in 1964 many evils have multiplied throughout the world. It seems as if our enemy is gaining a foothold in many areas and even countries that were staunchly Catholic such as Italy is having an increase in devil worship, plus Ireland and Poland seeing a large drop in church attendance with a secular movement in these and other countries trying to undermine our Catholic heritage. The list of evils in this world is too numerous to elaborate in a small space such as this. I think we should petition our Holy Father to bring back the prayer to St. Michael at the end of Mass and the Rosary should be encouraged in each parish at the end of every Mass. Most priests do give good sermons but it would be better if this message is brought to the parishioners during the sermons. I would like to hear what other members feel on this subject and any positive feedback on how to get the ball rolling on this.

yeah, i agree. I usually (not always) try to say the prayer to Saint Michael before I leave the church. Also I will try as much to say the Rosary before Mass, if I had not already said it that day. Too many people leave the church before the closing hymn is sung; some even are away before the priest exits. I would like to see many more people saying the Rosary at one time, 20 minutes is not that long, for all the spiritual benefits that it brings. Also, prayers have more merit if lots of us pray them at the same time, so, yes, we really should try to get more people to stay on a few extra minutes.

The St. Michael prayer was NEVER part of the Mass. It was among several said at the end of LOW masses after the Last Gospel, but was never part of the Mass itself, as they were never publicly said after Sung or High Masses.

I thought that it was never really part of the Mass as well, thanks for clearing that up…

But I would like to see parishes bring back this tradition. I see some families that do pray it after Mass, alone…

Maybe we could get this back one Parish at a time. Maybe we should all go talk to our Priest and suggest this.

I say the prayer, in the morning… just after the Chaplet of St. Michael. This prayer is very often featured, on EWTN programs. Let us hope and pray for a comeback of the prayer to St. Michael after Mass. Very powerful assistance is ours… for the asking.

St. Michael, pray for us. :knight1:
