The parish I typically attend for daily mass has a “Jesus rising from the cross” type behind the altar in which Jesus bears an uncanny resemblance to a 1980s mini-series star, Richard Chamberlain, including the haircut and the cleft chin . . . most unsettling. I try to keep my focus on processional crucifix off to the side. There is a parish near me that has one of these crucifixes that they use during the Easter season. I personally hate it, it has Jesus in a rainbow colored robe and shorter hair, like he got a haircut during the resurrection. They do replace it with the traditional crucifix the rest of the year.
