does anyone know of Catholic retirement communites. I’m thinking of the over 55 type of retirement communities that may be run by a religious order perhaps.

there is an assisted living on the site of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Bellville IL, run by the Oblates Of Mary Immaculate, visited it on behalf of MIL but she is not interested in leaving her own home. she is 84 and does not want to hang out with a lot of old people.

Benedictine Manor (run by sisters) in Cullman, Alabama (for independent retirement living).

Casa Calderon apartments for those age 62 or older or disabled (rent is based on income) in Tallahassee, Florida and best of all is right next door to the Co-Cathedral.

Taking early retirement is based mostly on how much you were able to put away during your working years.

Agree. Before I quit my job, and became her full time caregiver… I had been looking into this as a possibility for my Mom.

I found one in the Atlanta area, where we now reside. I don’t know if it was similar to those mentioned above… or something different, entirely; but they wanted $165,000.00 (approx.) to move her IN (would have been a small “condo” like unit of her own). Then, it was another $2,000.00 a month for her meals, utilities, activities and transportation… etc.

I was like :bigyikes: at the price. Had to forget about it.

Alexian Village of Tennessee is a great Catholic Retirement Community. It is run by the Alexian Brothers. It is located in Signal Mountain, TN located 15 minutes from Chattanooga, TN. If you are interested you can go to www.alexianvillage.com

There are two new sites in Lower Alabama (Mobile-Portier Place and Foley-Hamlet), operated by Mercy Medical. Go to www.mercymedical.com, or search for the name and city.
