Just finished up a 3 day silent retreat at Our Lady of the Oaks retreat house in Grand Coteau Louisiana. Has anyone else done a silent retreat and if so where ? Im already thinking of next retreat and maybe visiting a different place. šŸ™‚

Yes, the Loyola Retreat House in Smithtown, NJ. An excellent silent retreat with Ignatian Spiritual excercises.

Oh wow its beautiful !
Thank you for suggesting. Looking at it right now. Im at a point in my life now that ā€œvacationā€ is becoming more about silent prayer in beautiful setting.

Prince of Peace, the Benedictine abbey in Oceanside, CA. I was there for a seven day silent retreat years ago. And New Camaldoli Hermitage, the Benedictine Camaldolese monastery in Big Sur (also in California). I was there for three days of silence. Lately I’ve been going to Mater Dolorosa, the Passionist retreat house in Sierra Madre, CA. They offer preached weekend retreats with lots of time for silent prayer too.

Retreats are great!

I know this isn’t the original question but I’m hoping someone can help me. I am very excited to be going to my fiest silent retreat in a couple of months. Any suggestions? I am going to bring some books and a journal nut I would appreciate some suggestions!

First of all you will enjoy the experience of visiting GOD in silence. You are on track bringing your pen and journal. Your retreat director will give you a meditation to reflect on so bring your bible and also a rosary. Hard to say what or how many books to bring. This weekend I brought along 1 book from home and only read a few paragraphs as rest of the time I meditated on the scripture he talked about. Please remember to post back here on your experience.
Im checking out all the suggestions…really nice places
