Return to Catholicism, stay Protestant, or combine the two?

I haven’t read the whole thread, I just wanted to point out something I case no one else has yet. Your two youngest children would not be put in faith formation with the second graders who are preparing for first communion. They will likely go through RCIA with adults or other children their age. If they go to CCD, they would be with kids their own grade level.

I can’t find out any info about CCD. I remember going to CCD and enjoying it. I’m afraid there isn’t CCD at the church I’ve been going to. It looks like there is an active youth group.

Honestly this is one of my biggest concerns. My husband believes the Protestant church is better for the kids because of the children’s programs.

Thanks!

Elise

I have seen the two combined, and combined well (in the sense of family harmony and even a good understanding of both religious backgrounds) Often involves a little blurring of the lines and a little walk in the gray area.
This is what I’m beginning to think as well. I don’t like gray areas but it may not be possible to do this any other way.

Thanks,
Elise

Stick to the Catholic church, do this not only for you but your family. The Catholic church is so precious and so important in so many ways.

I read your post and i understand your concerns. You cannot think as a human but let the Holy Spirit guide you. God will inspire you to use the right words for your sons, in the mid time, pray and fast. I was the only one in my family going back to church. Short story, my husband converted and my child has a passion about the teaching of the church. Mother Mary is truly amazing and wonderful. Start those rosary now.

Don’t worry, your sons will follow. They will understand that it is far more important to be faithful to God.

In one of mother Mary message, i recalled reading that the reason there are many Christian church was because the devil did this to split the church. Protestant started only because the King wanted to be able to divorce. The Catholic church is the only one that have all the Seven Blessed Sacrament. Only an ordained priest can truly bring the Christ body and blood in the Holy Host and wine. Mortal sin can only be absorbed by confession. Another amazing miracle, is that Christ speak through his priest. No wonder that you had a good experience, VALUE his messages always. I am re-learning my religion, i also was raised Catholic and take the side track for the longest time, when i finally got it that i was deeply wrong, i simply pray and Mother Mary did all the work for me concerning my family.

Trust in God and have faith, resume to the Catholic church. Jesus is waiting for you with his arm open. I bet your guardian angel will have such a party with our lord.

Blessings and love!

Also just wanted to recommend Marcus Grodi and his show the Journey Home on EWTN where he interviews people on their stories of conversion and/or reversion. If you don’t have the channel, the episodes are on youtube. I love to watch them as my husband was not Catholic for the first 7 years of our marriage. He converted to Catholicism 5 years ago. Any who, there are tons of stories of Pentecostal families converting and other denominations as well and many times they deal with situations like you describe. It could be helpful to watch. Here are some that came up for Pentecostal:

Kelly,

Thank you so much for sharing these! I just watched the first one with my husband. I literally could not believe some of the things he was saying. I was telling my husband just today about how “me” focused I felt our Pentecostal worship service feels. When we leave our service I might comment on whether or not the preaching was good and if I got anything out of the worship time. But there was such a difference in Mass because it is all focused on Him. That is exactly what the first man in the video, Brett, said. That really spoke to me.

God Bless,
Elise
