Good points. That is why I stated that a Traditional Catholic is one who is loyal to the Magisterium of the Church rather than simply obedient to to some local priest, bishop or theologen.

At the other end of the spectrum are those self styled “Traditionalists” who actually deny or defy the authority of the magisterium in light of Vat2. Such defiance at either end of the sepctum (liberal or conservative) is not "Traditional Catholicism.

Traditional Catholics believe in the social reign of Christ the King (i.e. we need more confessional states), that error has no rights (but can be tolerated), that non-Catholics are outside the Church (contrary to Cardinal Kasper), that the Eastern Orthodox and Jews should be converted (contrary to Kasper and Pope Benedict, respectively), and that the death penalty is a great way to mete out justice. Modern biblical scholarship was condemned 100 years ago, and the Jews are objectively wrong to miss the prophecies concerning Christ in the Old Testament. Neo-modernism and outright modernism are very much alive and well in Holy Mother Church (the Fathers of Vatican II tried to do away with Scholasticism).

Finally, the Tridentine Mass is the Mass of the Roman rite and is objectively superior to the Novus Ordo Mass.

P.S. - These are the basics of traditional Catholicism (oh, and ecumenism is about converting non-Catholics, not never-ending dialogue).

In Soviet Union, red herring chase you!

Seriously, the vast majority of Traditionalists are people who believe everything the Catholic Church actually teaches, who accept Pope Benedict XVI as Pope and who do just as they are supposed to do. There are very few sedevacantists and others.

Now, the heresy of Modernism is widespread today and Traditionalists famously reject it… but that’s just them being actual Catholics instead of heretics.

There is no more loyal Catholic than a Traditionalist, by definition.

Well it seems we have a couple of “different viewpoints” on “traditional Catholic” right here.

But seriously. It is “Traditional” for a Catholic to accept the teachings of the Church and of the Holy Father. This is the Tradition. Therefore to be “traditional” is to follow this tradition.
Those who deny these teachings, regardless othe end of the spectrum are not being “traditional”.

My last post on this.
