Reuinted in Heaven?

My Dad passed away 24th of September and last Saturday was the 40 days. The priest spoke about purgatory and how many years you can be in purgatory. That brought up so many questions in my mind that lead to family.

I heard in Heaven there are no husband/wives. So what happens when you die? You are not reuinted with your parents/children/ family? Are we just spiritually connected?

I always believe, if there was love here in earth, it will still be there in heaven. So how could one not be connected in a special way to your loved ones on earth? I cannot believe that. Real love is forever I believe. There won’t be any marriage, but I think that for example soulmates will have a special connection.

And as an addition, when you ask for something with believe to the Lord, he will give it to you in Heaven. So when I ask for a special bond in Heaven with a soul I love, I believe it will be so.

Everyone will experience the resurrection of the body at the final judgment, so those who enjoy Heaven will enjoy each other in their glorified bodies. I have never heard a depiction of Heaven in which the blessed were isolated from each other. Rather, the blessed are depicted of being of one heart and mind in their union with God. To be a saint, after all, is to finally be fully human, fully formed into an unstained image of God.

IOW, there is every reason to believe that not only will everyone be “family” to you in Heaven, but your whole family, having been purged of every sinful inclination that stood between you in this life, will be more “together” with one another there than you ever were or could have been while you were still in this life, and not yet saints.

Pray for your father and pursue holiness, so that this day will come as soon as possible for you both! Do not worry that you will “not be as special” to each other as you are now. Rather, be ready for your heart to be expanded to what would seem impossibly huge to you now. You will lose nothing! You will gain more than you can imagine! Trust that!!
