23 and the light of a lamp shall shine in thee no more; and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard in thee no more; for thy merchants were the great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by thy sorcery.

So was doing a bit of light reading, ahem in Revelations and this passage jumped out at me. “The light of the lamp” calls to mind Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” and " voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard in thee no more" seems to be a reference to Christ and His Church.

Maybe I’m overthinking it but was just wondering if others had made this connection or if it means something else? Thanks.

Bridegroom is Jesus, the Bride are we, the Church.

The part you have given refers to the larger fragment, which describes the fall of the Great Babylon. Its annihilation was great, for all the sins that took place in it. In the passage there is the lamentation of merchants and sailors who will not see it again. This ‘Babilon’ is an image of the Earthly Order of Sin, subordinated to the prince of this world – Satan. ( “And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.”, we read in verse 24)

Therefore, there will be no more “light of a lamp” in it because it will be annihilated from the face of the Earth. (which event is followed by celebration and thanksgiving in heaven):
And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
[Rev 19:1-3]
It’s the End of Things my friend. A beginning of Everlasting Kingdom.
