Does Patristic Authority refer to the church fathers? In my ignorance i would assume that a bishop could have tons of information regarding the origin and legitimacy of scripture at his disposal due to his connections with the church.The ‘divine’ title has been used since the Patristic period to describe the Apostle John: it’s an Anglicanisation of the Latin divus which was the historical translation of the Greek θεολόγος theologos (‘theologian’).
