Romans 12:19-21:
Beloved, do not look for revenge but leave room for the wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

Rather, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.”

Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.
This has become one of my favorite statements of St Paul. We should not wish to gain revenge on those who wrong us. Rather, we should love them and hope that our love will change their ways. Maybe they will begin to feel the burning sensation on their scalp sooner and repent if we love them as we are called to do. No doubt they will get justice in the end.

Any other thoughts about Romans 12?

***Hi, briang!

I do not think that they will feel the heat… I think that what they will experience is that difficult truth that we are Christ’s disciples and thus His representatives…

i.e.: Mother Theresa of Calcuta (not sure of the spelling), this fragile and petite holy woman took on the awful task of ministering to those whom their own society had cast away; she did not have the financial, medical or physical means but she engaged the task in Christ’s Name: With her actions she preached, loudly, from the heart without uttering a word of judment against the inhumanity of the state and its culture–she served and represented Christ allowing His Grace to fall upon her and those around her.

Maran atha!
