I am currently struggling with an issue regarding people who insist on talking thru the Mass or other sacramental rites. My son had his first communion this past Saturday and I was awestruck at the behavior of some people. During Holy Communion while on the kneeling rail, someone actually disturbed my prayer because they wanted to get a photo when they were specifically told to stay in their seats throughout the service. Then after I received communion and was praying on the kneeling rail (while communion was still in process) another member of the same family was standing up talking to someone 2 pews away while I waited patiently for her to sit down so that I could resume praying. I finally put the kneeling rail down again and then started to pray at which point she now started sayin ‘excuse me’ ‘excuse me’, so I got up again and let her through. I was angry at this person. The time after receiving communion is very sacred to me. What I would like to know is this…Do I simply stay where I am until I am finished praying? Do I say something like, Maa’m would you please sit down so that I may pray? Or do I do nothing and let them violate the sanctity of the sacrament as they walk in and out while people are trying to pray?
At Mass on Sunday the gentleman behind me talked throughout the entire mass. I am morally torn between feeling like I am ‘judging others’ and not ‘standing up for God’ in his own house. Any advice would be appreciated greatly.
