Why the heck not!!! Heard there are some excellent Parishes out in the Diocese of Cleveland and would love to visit them.
Where?
I hear it is a vast wasteland of innovation. I know my former parishes are.
Within the group, we have a “journal” on the various Parishes with our “gripes”. I’m really trying to keep things on a positive note on the site…well, at least I hope that is what it looks like. We are trying to incorporate the things we see that we know would make our liturgy better, as well as staying in line with what the Church teaches. We’re hoping that this becomes a stepping off point to more and better things in our Parish.
I really feel that the guide needed is not the architecture of the churches, but rather how their liturgies are handled. Innovations and abuses That’s the guide the people are yearning for.

I can see that you are visiting parishes in the hopes of improving your own parish, but that’s not what I see in the other Roamin’ Catholic databases.

If you start in on Cleveland, send me your grip list. I need a good parish if I move back home.

I attended the 10:30am Mass at St. John’s here in San Diego a few times. Latin was always used in all the parts of the Mass that were to retain Latin. However, this past Sunday all the Latin has been removed. Everything is in the vernacular now. Does anybody here, who might be familar with St. John’s, know why they changed? Fr. Dillard, the pastor, is also the pastor of the San Diego Latin Mass Society that celebrates the indult TLM which I thought was, in large part, why the Novus Ordo at his parish used Latin so I was surprised to find that the Latin has been removed.

I don’t think that was the case. Father Dillard only recently took over as Pastor for the Traditional Congregation, and from what I understand Latin had been used at St. Johns prior to his appointment at the society… Maybe there were complaints. I know that in quite a few cases nationwide when pastors tried to use Latin they were bombarded with complaints and criticisms from those who seem to feel that if the Mass is not totally in the vernacular then it is totally wrong.

Ask Father Dillard, I’ve always found him to be fair and open to conversation.

Thanks for the info. I’ll try to email him again. However, last time I tried emailing him about another topic I got no response.

I was a little disappointed because I brought my brother and his wife who were down from LA to St. John’s to see Latin used in the Novus Ordo. Both of them primarily attend the TLM or an eastern Divine Liturgy because of the irreverence they find at N.O.'s. I knew something was wrong when I didn’t see the sheets with the Latin parts of the Mass in the pews. 😦

One good thing I did notice was that the tabernacle which they moved to the old high altar for the midnight TLM on Christmas was still on the high altar. I think it’s going to remain there because I saw that they patched up the holes in the wall where the sanctuary light used to hang when the tabernacle was off to the side.
