** The priest is the only one during the Mass that is in the person of Christ. He alone lifts our prayers and offers them up. **
I will cite you two instances in the Mass to the contrary: before the Sanctus, one of our responses is “We lift them up to the Lord.”

The second is that we pray “Our Father…”. Not “Your Father”, not “Father, please offer up to God our Father our prayers…”

Nice try, though

The parish where I attend weekday Mass (downtown) doesn’t “do” the orans position (the people don’t.) The priests there do it as called for in the rubrics. One priest, before the Creed, is still prompting people to bow or genuflect during the indicated section of the Creed. At my home parish (in a third ring, semi-rural suburb,) they “do” everything: orans, raising their hands (and I agree, it looks like they got caught in a stick-up in a convenience store,) hand-holding, shaking hands across the aisle during the sign of peace, etc, etc. They’re still having problems with “and with your spirit” as well. Yesterday, I could have sworn I was the only one saying “and with your spirit,” or any of the “new” responses, for that matter. And nobody bows during the Creed!
