The Latin Rite is the Roman Rite and same way around. It’s a habit of mine to default and say Latin Rite, since some, and I believe incorrectly, assumes that anything entitled “Roman” is an insult.

I wouldn’t completely agree that the Latin Rite is the Roman Rite. I believe it more correct to use the adjective ‘Roman’. However, I do not wish to get into a discussion about semantics.

I would not avoid using the term ‘Roman’ because others see it as an insult. The Church could not have survive for 2000+ years is She worried about things like that.

My key point about not understanding your post was related to most of it rather than the Latin/Roman dichotomy. Anyway, it is probably best to leave it there.

The Catholic Church which is often referred to as the Roman Catholic Church is more correctly called the Latin Catholic Church, as demonstrated by Canon #1 of the Code of Canon Law, 1983. Roman Rite is different from the Latin Catholic Church. It refers to one of the liturgical rites of the Latin Catholic Church; there are others, e.g. Ambrosian, Mozarabic.

The other 22 sui iurus Catholic Churches are most certainly not Roman, whether you meant this in terms of law, rite, or theology. Most are Eastern and several are Oriental. I think most of these would be offended to be described as ‘Roman’.

Canon 1 The canons of this Code affect all and solely the Eastern Catholic Churches, unless, with regard to relations with the Latin Church, it is expressly stated otherwise.

The Church does not seem to agree with you that we are all “Roman”.

Allow me to clarify, I was using Latin and Roman in the generic and not the specific.

Personally, I avoid this argument when ever I can and I would rather not see this thread railroaded off topic through my imprudent use of the language.

Of course, that may have been your intention but, unfortunately, it has not come across in that manner. Particularly when lumping together 23 sui iuris Churches as ‘Roman’.

This side discussion may assist the OP, and others, in understanding the differences between Churches and rites, as well as gaining an awareness of the different Churches and rites.

Your quotation doesn’t mention Roman. It says that we are not all Latin. We are all subject to Rome.
