"Rewards" in Heaven?

I was trying very hard to understand a comment made by a Protestant born again Christian who is Bible only.🙂

The comment was that there will be different **rewards **given to us in heaven, (assuming of course we get there but that is another topic)
Note the Plural on RewardS

Lots of Bible verses were cited to make the case for this, yet I could not see it.:o

2 Tim 4:8
James 1:12
Matt 5:3-12
Emphasis on Matt 5:12!
1 Peter 5:4
Revelation 2:10
Revelation 4:10

Huh?:confused:

Okay, All for Him- looks like there are no takers here.

I am going to prayerfully attempt to see this and hope it comes to me.

The funny thing about this is, I never really got this as a Protestant either.

Maybe thats not funny, but sad. I dont know. But - it should be clear if we are to believe it and its sooo not to me.

Hi,
I just think it is one of those topics that really isnt taught by any religion/denom. I had never heard of it till maybe 2 years ago when my minister briefly mentioned it in Sunday School. Someone else told me that you could do a whole study on it. So, maybe no one on the forums has ever been taught or made aware of rewards before.:confused: After all, on these forums we like to talk about all of our differences:p instead of positive stuff.:rolleyes:
 
They believe different rewards in Heaven, yet they find it hard to believe intercession of the Saints. How odd!

Obviously, God grants many Saints to intercede for us. St. Teresa of the Child Jesus can give us roses. St. Jude can help us with impossible cases, so can St. Rita, etc…

This is to also say that Virgin Mary has been rewarded the Mother of God. Yet they can’t believe it.

I see your point but in all fairness I dont like the comparison.

I am asking for the basis for reaching this conclusion for a Protestant by reading those scriptures and then coming to that conclusion, as I cant.
 
Those without a GPS can get lost, and in this case, I would call it GOD’s Plan of Salvation (GPS) , and the GPS is the Bible and the Church, and your ernest prayers offered up to the Lord.

Everybody is rewarded based on how well they followed GOD’s Plan here on Earth. I would want to be rewarded with the ability to become perfect enough to enter heavenly Father’s Kingdom, but I may end up at a lower level due to my imperfections.

Everybody seems to have a different way of looking at things, and alot of confusion, about how we will be saved, depending on how much effort we make of our time on this Earth, and Earth is a School of learning, with you progressing spiritually, if your willing.

What I’m afraid of is how I may react, if I’m asked if I except Jesus Christ, by the Lord at the time of my Passing through Death’s Door into the next realm.

I see it that only the perfect will be residing with the Heavenly Father in his Kingdom, but there are more than one Glory of Heaven for those that are less than perfect, but have excepted Jesus Christ.

Blessed are the poor in Spirit is the foundation of all.

According to St. Augustine, the first Seven Beatitudes are correspondent to the seven gift of the Holy Spirits.

I do read the Bible quite often as ALL for Him will attest, I am sure.👍

I dont appreciate having the book of Crointhians bolded to me as if I am someone who never heard of it before.:eek:

I know! And it made sense to me, but “the burden” of proof here falls on the Protestants making these bold claims.😉

Yes, haven’t you heard about earning “jewels for your crowns”? It has to to with how perfectly united we are in Christ which we obtain by striving for spiritual perfection. Jesus mentions it in the Sermon on the Mount. “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven…” This is part of our faith. We may enter heaven " the Kingdom of God", but some of us “shine” birghter than others. I beleive it has something to do when we are resurrected to our new bodies and God makes the new heavens and new earth. It is part of our spirituality passed on from generation to generation.
 
If in Heaven, God still allow us to have free will as He did with the angels and if I go to Heaven, the rewards I want to have are not ever again being so prideful 🙂 and have my eyes fixed on God.

If others in Heaven have different awards, I should not be concerned – I do not want to be like Lucifer who had given the great seat in Heaven, but with his pride, he lost it all.
 
Rewards? "I think the greatest reward is: “what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, what God has prepared for those who love him” quote from one of Paul’s letters in the New Testament (N.T.).
The greatest reward will be God Himself. For us to be partakers in, and share in the life of the Holy Trinity as adopted sons and daughters of God!
…“we shall see God as He really is, because we shall be like him.” (quote from somewhere in the epistles of the N.T.)
In other words it all adds up to a mind blowing, heart glowing experience that goes on for all eternity at the speed of light (if you can take my meaning).
As a friend of my once said "We can use our imagination to think about Heaven, but what is God’s imagination???!
 
Hi;
The rewards we get in heaven are crowns. I taught this in a Sunday School class many years ago. As I remember there is the crown of life, the crown of rightiousness and the crown of glory. There are more but I can not think of them just now.
