Rhode Island priest denies communion to legislators who support abortion

The pastor of a Rhode Island church issued a flier which said that every state legislator who voted last year to preserve the right to an abortion in state law would be denied communion.

It seems to me that the pastor would have to show the law the person voted on, which directly supports or promotes abortion. I remember Bishop Tobin from Providence RI on Hardball with Chris Matthews. The Bishop told Patrick Kennedy not to receive Holy Communion. Matthews asked the Bishop if he had the druthers, would he write a law banning all abortions ? The Bishop said, yes he would.
