Ribbon bookmarks in missal/lectionary

Is there any rhyme or reason to the colors of ribbons in the missal/lectionary?

Sometimes a ribbon is just a ribbon.

nope no particular meaning, some churches will use the same colors to mark the same places (preface, daily mass propers, sunday mass propers, funeral propers etc.) other sacramentaries (like the latin edition missale romanum) have large ribbons of the same color.
