Has Anyone else picked up on two questions that the media has not asked yet, at least I have not heard them. If it was her intention to never have a feeding tube, then why did he let one be installed in the first place??? IN the second place, Why did he wait eight years before beginning the fight to remove it??? This man left this tube in for eight years. IN the third place, all he has to do is turn this woman back over to her parents and family and go on with the rest of his life. NO, HE WANTS HER DEAD. Maybe he wanted her dead fifteen years ago and didnt get the job done. Just speculation I know but thoughts. Things just dont add up with this guy.
You are right on my other thread in the news there was questions surrounding how she got that way anyway. Her neck was stiff when she was initially admitted which is a sign of strangulation,x-rays showed she had multiple fractures in different stages of healing:mad: He told the media he held her until paramedics arrived but when her brother went over there befor the ambulance arrived she was face down on the floor gurgling and gasping for air.He does not wanty her to live because she may tell on him!

Totally escaped my notice. But brilliant observation. There is something seriously wrong with Judge Greer. Why on earth would he make such a dumb ruling?

Are those rhetorical questions?

It seems pretty obvious that you don’t give up on someone the minute they are sick

The feeding tube was probably originally installed as part of her treatment before they knew the nature and extent of her problem

And, I don’t know, but I would imagine that he waited 8 years because you don’t give up on someone the minute they are sick.

I can understand people not agreeing with his decision but I don’t see why folks are trying to assign some sort of ulterior motive to the guy.

I don’t know the man or the medical facts and I bet that very few people out there do.

It is a terrible situation for all involved. A situation I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I think we should at least give him the benefit of the doubt that he honestly thinks that it is the right thing to do.

Just because a person disagrees with you that doesn’t make them evil.

It is a terrible situation. However, Mr. Schiavio, as I understand it, is awaiting a large sum of money upon Terri’s death. He also has a couple children with another woman while his wife is still alive…

I can’t be sure if I have all of the facts straight, but he hasn’t done himself any favors if he’s looking for sympathy.

IIRC the money was awarded in 1992 most of which was set asside for her care

It was probably spent a long time ago

As a medical professional, I know in my own experience that a feeding tube would not be initial treatment. Total parenteral nutrition or TPN would be first. From the reports that I have heard, the husband claims that there have been no changes whatsover in EEG or cat scans since the beginning. Obviously a qualified doctor told him from the beginning that it was hopeless. I never called the man evil. One last thing, A feeding tube is not life support. A life support mechanism is a device that if disconnected, at that very moment the patient would have significant changes in their condition. She will be slowly starved to death. One more rhetorical question is the fact that she may have changed her mind about life sustaining measures and didnt tell him. Maybe she should have the benefit if the dout as well.

Mike O:
They have so-called “expert” doctors trying to pass off starvation as “slipping into a peaceful coma.”
These may be the same “experts” who claim that an aborted pre-born baby doesn’t feel anything, yet more and more indications point to babies being able to feel very early in their pre-born lives. (I’m not sure of the details, I have never had a child and I am not an expert in this area, but heard and read enough to know that it’s bunk that abortion is painless for the slaughtered little one)

Though a bit off the subject, it’s also part of the misinformation the Culture of Death spews out regularly.

AMEN, Its not really off the subject, as on another thread, there are 4,000 little Terris being slaughtered every day in this country.

You need to do some serious research. Michael Schiavo has spent over $400,000 on lawyer George Felos alone, trying to kill Terri. The money has not been spent on her care. The money that he has spent has been strictly on trying to kill his wife, not on caring for her. That is one reason he has refused to allow anyone to do any therapy on her.
And despite lack of therapy, Terri is able to swallow liquids on her own. So Michael signed an order forbidding her to recieve liquids by mouth. Before that, she was able to eat jello. Thickened liquids like jello are standard fare for people with swallowing problems until they have therapy to improve.

well, I did some quick research on CNN (possibly not the best but in a case like this Blogs seem like they may be a little biased)
They indicated that $1,000,000 was awarded in 1992 with $700,000 set asside specifically for her care.
this leads me to guess at certain things

(1) If he’s spent $400,000 in legal fees then he is a fool if he has some sort of profit motive

(2) there was a case against someone in order for the original $1,000,000 to be paid out. It seems like a relativley small amount (possibly a settlement?) but even still if there was a serrious criminal alligations agianst this guy it would probably have been brought up then

shrug

Who knows what evil lies in the hearts of men

I certianly don’t

This is what I don’t understand. The parents have permission to visit her now. A change from before. What is to stop them from attempting to feed her?

Dr Sunjay Gupta of CNN says that she may be able to swallow but can she swallow enough food to sustain her?

Did you guys know that Judge Greer is legally blind? I mean really. It’s not figurative language. He’s blind. How can he have made a ruling when he could not see her? The more I read about this case, the more heartsick I am. :banghead: Why should we consider his shortcomings when he won’t consider those of Terri? Because we’re Catholic. :o Wow, sure brings up visions of St Paul being struck down from his high horse.

I’m reminded of an old Woody Guthrie song 😉

I know one thing, I will NEVER vote for a Democrat as long as I live, and I will NEVER vote for someone like Senator John McCain (see his remarks in the link to the news article). There is a reason why he lost. He’s a Democrat in Republican clothing.

Three cheers for Tom DeLay. I don’t care if he is found guilty of whatever type of charge the Democrats are trying to levy against him. He is truly pro-life.

Woody Guthrie song? Which one? Well here I am watching the House on CNN. Who is watching it with me?

There have also been 1500 Terri’s slaughtered in Iraq, not to mention thousands of Iraqi widows and children left orphans thanks to Bush. And the killing continues. What about the poor and hungry children in this country…we have ignored them while Bush cuts even more funding. Lets not forget the culture of life should extend to all.

Steve Andersen:
Mike O

We don’t know all the facts of the story

I don’t know what she said to him about such situations or what she said to her parents

I’m not a doctor and I can’t distinguish between the conflicting expert opinions

But I wouldn’t go accusing the husband of sinister intent

It is a difficult situation that has been through many courts and even Congress

So it seems apparent that it there was foul play it would have been outed by now

He probably legitimately believes that he is making the correct choice
Say “HELLO” to TOTO for me okay?!

A woman , who knows Judge Greer, called a radio program and said that Judge Greer is legally blind and has to have everything read to him. That might be part of the reason he has never gone to see Terr.
