Ok, so I’m not sure which forum this should go in. So if it needs moved, please don’t hesitate to do so.

Basically, I’m doing a project for my European History and Literature class, and I need to make the ring of a Cardinal, or, if necessary, an Archbishop. Does anyone have any information on a Ring of a Cardinal from the late 15th century-early 16th century? I read that the Cardinal’s rings today have a depiction of the Crucifixion with Mary and John to the sides, with Pope Benedict XVI coat of arms on the inside. Once again sorry if its in the wrong spot. If anyone has any information I’d really appreciate it. May God Bless you Abundantly!

Don’t have any direct information, but I’m guessing you could look at painted or sculpted portraits of Cardinals of the period. They were usually really big on detail, so get out a magnifying glass and look at those rings!

Thats a great idea! I would have never thought of that haha. Thank you so much! I’m really excited about making this ring, and I like this class because I can discuss what really happened; such as the Galileo Trial, when the movie or textbook we are using is extremely bias against the Church. May God Bless you Abundantly this Holy Advent Season!

I’m not sure about how far back it extends to but the cardinal’s ring was a sapphire with the arms of the Pope engraved at the back. The amounts paid for the ring were the same from the 16th to the early modern time, but I don’t know whether the rings were.

Thanks! I was hoping I wouldnt have to just wing it haha. On a sadder note, I dont think we can make it anymore; not enough raw materials. However, my partner said that theres one we could use, so I’ll have to look at it and check it out. Thanks so much! May God Bless you Abundantly this Holy Advent Season!
