Dear friends

A while ago at Mass I noticed that on the base of the Eucharistic Chalice were rings (like the one you wear on your finger) with jewels in their tops all around the base of the Chalice, I didn’t see how many of these rings were there, but they were all around the base and extremely beautiful. Can anyone explain to me the significance of this and their meaning? I have been a Catholic all my life and can’t believe I didn’t notice them before. Thank you in advance for any information anyone can provide on this.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

The ring is usually the wedding ring of the mother of the priest. At least all the priests I know…I worked for the Church for many years. Annunciata:)

I know a former pastor of mine has a chalice with the wedding rings of his parents on it.

I think it’s incredibly beautiful.

🙂 That is beautiful, I didn’t realise that was why they were there at all, there must have been more than 5 rings but I couldn’t take the time to count exactly

God Bless you and much love and peace to you
