May she rest in peace :crossrc:

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our deaths, Amen.

I’m sorry to hear about the passing of Jean Stapleton; as an actress she was very entertaining and funny portraying her role of Edith Bunker.

However, the TV sitcom ‘All in the Family’ was a satirical rip on American working class social and political Conservatives. 😦

‘All in the Family’ was an American adaptation (basically a rip off) of the BBC1 sitcom ‘Till Death Us Do Part’.

You know how Left of centre the BBC is. 😉

Everyone would be better off if they simply turned off Network TV; it’s all basically Liberal political propaganda (although it can be entertaining because the Networks can afford to hire the best comedy / sitcom script writers money can buy).

I also remember after ‘All in the Family’ Jean Stapleton played the role of a mother with a young son who was addicted to drugs in a made for TV movie (when the Networks made made for TV movies) called ‘Angel Dusted’:
PCP, a deadly drug commonly known as Angel Dust, made its first destructive appearances on the street in the late 1970s. In Angel Dusted, Jean Stapleton plays a cloistered housewife/mother who knows little and cares less about drug problems. Her son is a hard-working college student who decides to experiment just once with marijuana. The boy freaks out after smoking pot laced with PCP–and it doesn’t look like he’ll ever totally recover. Adding texture to the film is the presence of the film’s screenwriter Darlene Craviotto as the boy’s psychiatrist–and the presence of Jean Stapleton’s real-life son John Putch in the role of her on-screen son. Angel Dusted was based on a book by Ursula Etons. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

So we shouldn’t be able to laugh at ourselves?

After she left All in the Family, Stapelton was approached to do the series Murder She Wrote, which was written for her. She didn’t want to another series though.
