After many years of faithful service, my travel bible has sadly begun to fall apart on me.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what compact catholic bible I should get as a replacement?
I like the RSVCE but I am open to consider other translations such as the DR as well.

You should see my study bible, that thing is BEAT UP.

You can get it rebound with a sturdier cover and just keep on with your old Bible.

There are places that rebind Bibles. The one I use is in the southern USA, but I’m sure there’s a place nearer to you.

This is the place I used to re-bind my father-in-law’s small Bible (about the size of the one pictured above)

They did a great job. I was about to have them rebind my husband’s grandma’s big Bible which is a much bigger job, but COVID got in the way. When the COVID dies down I will use them again for the big Bible.

Rebinding a Bible costs more than buying a new one, if you do it right and get a good cover and all, but people who have family heirloom Bibles or notes written in their Bibles don’t want a new one. My FIL’s Bible had their family tree handwritten in it.

Thanks. But I’m not sure there are places that repair bibles here in South Africa.

Of course, I am very thrifty. If no other option, I would buy some good fabric tape and repair that cover.

There are almost certainly book binding concerns in S.A. I have the good fortune of being able to send bibles to El Salvador with family. They come back with fresh bindings for $5-$7. There is that waiting period until SIL returns, however…
