Risen came out in 2016. Anyone seen it. What did you think?

I thought it was very good and definitely worth seeing.

FYI, there was a thread about it and The Young Messiah (which came out at the same time) with 6 pages of opinions. You should check it out.

Very good. Really showed to my mind, what belief was all about.

Yes I would recommend it. I don’t care for some of the religion based films, but I really
liked this one. Very well made.

I thought it was terrible to be honest, Joseph Fiennes is a good actor but the disciples and others were not, when one disciple was questioned in the movie, he was all vague and like the ‘vibe’ about it all, as if he were on drugs or something I thought.

The disciples etc did not play convincing characters at all IMO. The only movie that really did it well was The Passion of the Christ I think.

I hope this has helped

I agree. Some of the disciples were a little goofy. One in particular.

lol I agree.

Also, Cliff Curtis isn’t a bad actor either, but he didn’t have much of a role in playing Jesus and even as that Character, he definitely didn’t have the look for it. He simply wasn’t believable as Jesus. He would have played a better St Peter or something I think.

I couldn’t watch it all, let the goofy disciple slide but got up to where he accidently cut St Peter and then St Peter sort of lost it and then I had enough lol.

Remember that when the Apostles received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost they were accused of being drunk (leading to a really funny comment of Saint Peter - ‘it’s only 9 in the morning - we can’t be drunk!’).

I’m guessing they DID sound rather goofy on that occasion, hence the accusation.

Perhaps they interpreted their characters to act the way they did. I can’t remember how they acted before they received the Holy Spirit. I haven’t seen it since it came out in the theatres.

It was okay. It was enjoyable. However, as some folks have said, some of the depictions of the apostles were cringe worthy. I did like how the film depicted the brotherhood of the apostles and their joyousness. It was a good movie just not a great one.

I’ll have to disagree with you there. I thought Cliff Curtis was one of the best actors to play Jesus.
