saw a couple of threads on Rite of election yesterday but too pooped to participate after Rite of Sending for Election in our parish, and all the preparation last week. Lots of surprises, last minute details to work out (sponsor is not Catholic, need new sponsor; baptism turnes out not to be valid, need to shift from candidate to catechumen class; sponsor in hospital, need prayers and stand-in; visiting priest did not know we were doing this today, need to fill him in; please pray for your RCIA team, we are doing the best we can).
Rite of Election tomorrow night with Bishop, I love it because the catechumens realize they are part of a universal Church when they see the crowd, all the children and adults coming forward. Pray for our bishop he has the strength to do this, plus all the confirmations coming up, he is really pushing himself. When he speaks to them it is like “I am here for you” and each individual is welcomed. I see it every year, the entire mood of the class changes when the realize how big this “something” is they are a part of.
somebody asked about scrutinies, I will try to post the articles I put in our parish bulletin each week to help involved the whole parish in this process, but I have to go clean up the hall from RCIA and youth retreats this weekend, seeya.
