No, you will meet the bishop and be welcomed in a ritual way to make your final preparations to enter the Church.

Since none of the Elect are yet Catholic, the Eucharist is not part of the Rite of Election.

Axios!
Deacon Christopher

PS: as Elect, you are now eligible for a Catholic funeral, a fun fact that most do not know.

From Lent through Easter.

You will probably celebrate some of the scrutines during Lent.

Your RCIA leader(s) can give you a schedule of what all is happening when.

I will pray for you,
Deacon Christopher

I am not sure where to exactly post this.
The 8th Son,and I will go to the Bigger Catholic Church around us .
The 8th we will go for the Rite of Election of Catechumens.
Can someone explain so to make sure I know this for sure?

As a newbie, you have to do two things. Go and be greeted and touched by the bishop, and go to Reconciliation. After that, the only “step” is the Easter Vigil, when you will be baptized and confirmed. Unless you are already baptized–then you will be confirmed. And then you are one of us! Welcome to the Catholic faith.

The OP states she is a catechumen. She will not go to reconciliation prior to the Easter Vigil. Her baptism at the Vigil will purge all sins. Only candidates go to reconciliation prior to the Vigil.

I would expect these parts of the ceremony “Rite of Election or Enrollment of Names”:

Entrance procession

Greeting by Bishop

Reading, psalm, Gospel (similar to Mass)

Homily by Bishop

Presentation of the Catechumens “One by one, the candidates and godparents are called by name. Each candidate, accompanied by a godparent (or godparents), comes forward and stand before the celebrant.”

Affirmation by the Godparents

Invitation and Enrollment of Names

Act of Admission or Election

Intercessions for the Elect (like the Prayer of the Faithful at Mass)

Prayer over the Elect

Dismissal

Final Song and procession out.

At https://www.cam.org.au/Portals/7/Preparing for ROE2019.pdf?ver=2018-11-13-114354-903 there is a letter about the Rite of Election in Melbourne, describing how things will be done there. But things can be done differently.

Oh. I guess it depends on the church. I went through RCIA with another candidate and two catechumen, and we all went to Reconciliation prior to the Easter Vigil. At least, we were told to. I assume the others went, as well.

Candidates who are already baptized do go to confession before the Vigil, catechumens do not. It’s not different from parish to parish.

If a catechumen “goes to Reconciliation”, it could be nothing more than a practice exercise in being sorry for his sins. It could not be a sacrament because the unbaptized are unable to (as in cannot as opposed to may not) receive any other sacrament prior to baptism.

If you have already been baptized then you actually go through the Call to Continuing Conversion of Candidates, not the Rite of Election. The Rite of Election is for catechumens.

It seems likely that your parish uses the so-called combined rite. That means there there will be some things that are more or less that same for catechumens and candidates but there will be other things that won’t apply to you because they are only for catechumens.

This is a brief overview (without details):

Celebration of Election
Code:
Presentation of the Catechumens
Affirmation by the Godparents [and the Assembly]
Invitation and Enrollment of Names
Act of Admission or Election
Celebration of the Call to Continuing Conversion
Code:
Presentation of the Candidates
Affirmation by the Sponsors [and the Assembly]
Act of Recognition
Intercessions for the Elect and the Candidates
Prayer over the Elect and the Candidates
Dismissal of the Elect
Liturgy of the Eucharist

What you describe may be the Parish Celebration for Sending Catechumens for Election and Candidates for Recognition by the Bishop

I think maybe that was it. I do remember the parochial priest telling the pastoral associate that we should all go. I actually felt as if my first visit was a practice exercise, too, since I hadn’t been coached and didn’t know about the act of contrition! Father walked me through it.

Yes, I asked my Deacon also my Sponsor, and he said we will all go…My Son and I am super excited 🙂
