I didn’t know it wasn’t the norm. Like I said I received confession before my baptism and the priest knew that my Mormon baptism when I was 8 wasn’t valid. And I know that my husband’s baptism in the Pentecostal faith wasn’t valid, so why is our parish out here making him go to confession before baptism too?

the pastor may not know all the facts because the RCIA director or the person who interviewed you when you joined did not pass those facts along. None of that is your fault. Sadly, communication is not always what it should be. Ask your pastor for an interview now, well before Easter, to make sure he understands these individual circumstances so you have no surprises.
