Great article. Loved the Catholic Faith month analogy. So true that if you disagree or don’t support xyz, you must be a hater. It’s illogical to think that way, yet they do because they have the numbers to support them.

Do you think too that they are just applying a “guilt trip” ? When they know that the Catholic church teaches in a traditional way about sin, and you adhere to the Church? I hope you know what I mean. this sounds confusing.

Wouldn’t it be nice if polite disagreement is all that, say for instance, LGBTQ people have to deal with.

But no, they regularly have their rights trampled, access to healthcare slashed, subjected to mental and emotional abuse, and their physical persons brutalized and murdered.

So where are you going with this?

I don’t think that believing transgenderism is a mental disease like Body Integrity Identity Disorder equates to wanting to trample their rights, slash their health care, abuse, brutalize, or murder them.

And yet one is called hater and transphobic for suggesting that it is not a normal variant of human nature.

I didn’t say it was. But there are plenty if instances of that happening. And the political action of people who believe as you said encourages and enables the abuse of LGBTQ folk. When transwomen are refused the use of the bathroom that matches their identity, it puts them in danger. When the AIDS crisis was failed to be acted upon by the Reagan administration, it killed thousands. When people vote for legislation that limits gay rights, it actively fosters a dangerous environment for gay folk.

This is more than just a difference of belief - it’s not like debating which ice cream flavor is better. When someone’s beleifs have real, dangerous consequences for people, it isn’t just a matter of a disagreement.

So I should keep my mouth shut because other people might take it into their heads to beat up transgender people?

Moreover, the idea now is that suggesting any form of therapy is verboten. Suppose this is all due to something like hormones in the water people drink from the Pill?

I didn’t know that was a right.

Thankfully she would be in a woman only space.

Clearly, the answer is going to depend on contexts.

If the Westboro Baptist Church’s vile mouths create and environment that leads to some gay man getting road hauled, yes. They should’ve kept their mouths shut.

I sincerely doubt you would do anything similar to that though.

Stop playing the pretending game.

Biological femalehood is science, not extremeism.

Where are all the trans women at the OBGYN?

You are conflating two things. The science backs that up.

Also you’re getting into the weeds. This has nothing to do with my original point.

I think it is a right in a school for a young woman to be able to change in a women-only locker room. Surely the right to privacy extends that far?

A young man who declares he is really a young woman is permitted in many systems to simply switch locker rooms, regardless of how the young women feel about changing in the same room with someone who is biologically male.

Anyone can say “she would be in a woman only space,” but first, that is not true, and second, how do we know? The young man might be fooling, might change his mind, and still has the body and tendencies of an adolescent male.

Apparently young women who feel uncomfortable have to be given a safe space of their own in which to change.

Absurd.

Yeah, well deciding you are a woman when your chromosomes and body parts are male doesn’t work that way either.

There is a difference between a man stuck in a woman’s body and someone with a physical or chromosomal problem. Conflating the two different problems does no one any good.
