Robin Williams was bipolar.

Can we let him Rest In Peace and pray for his soul
 
He had Lewis Body Dementia misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s. He had certainly suffered with bipolar and substance abuse issues in the past, but that’s not what lead to his suicide.
 
I remember reading somewhere, don’t recall now, that suicide sadly is all to common for the condition that Robin had. Don’t know if it is the condition or side effect of medication with depression that can bring that about.

What I had read is that like other forms of dementia, it can lead to paranoia and delusions.
 
Eternal rest grant unto Robin Williams, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace.
And may the Lord comfort his family and friends.
Amen.

I, for one, had never heard of the type of dementia that he suffered from. When something terrible happens to a celebrity, it draws attention to their situations in a way that, for good or ill, would not happen with ordinary people. In this case, I think good can come from talking about his illness. We need more compassion toward and understanding of mental illness in our society. We need a light shone on these problems so that perhaps, with greater public awareness, research dollars can be allocated to mental illness and dementia, and perhaps someday we can make great progress in finding treatment.
 
His widow has spoken of it. Out of respect for his family, I implore you, do not buy this book. Let Robin rest in peace and let your memories of him be filled with love and laughter. He has left us with an incredible body of work that has brought so much joy. Let that be his legacy.
