I’m just wondering this at the moment, as I’ve been seeing a lot of Robins recently; I think saw nearly four or five robins on my way home today. So needless to say, I thought I read something somewhere that robins tried to tear away the throne embedded in Our Lord’s head from the Crown, whether this is true or not, I will leave for you to enlighten me! 😉

considering it is spring, it would not be unusual for you to see robins.
did you mean thorns rather than throne? wasn’t sure if that was a typo or spellcheck issue. I can’t comment on that story. sorry.

It’s a nice story, but I don’t think robins are native to the Middle East. How lucky you are to see robins! We have been invaded by huge, black crows and they have wiped out most of the other bird populations in my town. 😦

I looked up and found two legends (or fables?) about how the robin got its red breast. In one, the robin plucked a thorn and was stained with Jesus’ blood. In the other, the robin acquired the color as it fueled a fire with twigs and fanned the fire with its wings to keep the baby Jesus warm. These of course are not biblical, just nice children’s stories.

I also looked up the range of the European Robin. It does live in the Middle East:
