Rochester, New York City see violent clashes following Daniel Prude video release

Earlier Friday, a police union leader defended 7 suspended officers, saying they followed protocol in Prude’s March arrest

Chaotic clashes continued in Rochester, N.Y., for a third night Friday in reaction to recently released police body-camera footage of the March arrest of Daniel Prude, a Black man who died of asphyxiation a week later.

Rioters set fires, vandalized property and threw objects at police, who declared the unrest an unlawful assembly after the evening started peacefully, reports said.

More than 300 miles away, protesters in New York City also turned violent, resulting in an unspecified number of arrests, according to reports.
More at link.

Happened on March 30, the officers put a spit-bag on his head to protect officers from saliva, possible virus if the prisoner should try to spit on officers.

Some of the clashes are pretty rowdy.

never ends in this country the way police respond to calls on mental welfare checks. makes one wonder what they are actually teaching at the training academies

The death of the victim was the result of his own physical and mental condition. It is a wonder that Prude was mobile after throwing himself head first down a long flight of stairs. The fear and concern in Prude’s brother is very apparent when the cop took the call.

The suspended cops involved are safest off the street at this time but eventually they will return to work.

These subsesequent violent riots we are witnessing are all politically motivated and have nothing to do with racism.

…a false statement. Police are probably shooing away anti BLM from shadows. That statue is definitely a target.

3 cops injured and 9 arrests overnight

The problem with all of this protesting and, I am not associating it with the peaceful protests but the violence is I am starting to read articles that say we may well be in for quite a bit of turbulence, election day and especially afterwards. Some side might reject the result and it’s such a pity our country is at a crossroads like this.

The current flow of rioters will burn themselves out or work themselves into a hither thither requiring abrupt immediate full intervention of the US military.

25 unarmed whites, and only 15 unarmed blacks were killed by police in 2019. And most of these were attacking the police just prior to being killed.

I blame the leftist media for fanning the flames, and for brainwashing low-information Americans into falsely believing that systemic racism exists among the police.
