Here’s a band I haven’t heard mentioned: Hüsker Dü.

Not a Christian band, although not really any worse than a lot of the other bands people have mentioned, and on the early stuff you won’t really understand the lyrics. But they created an amazing wall of sound for just 3 guys. “Zen Arcade” is their classic album, perhaps the bridge between earlier punk and later punk-pop and grunge. (So perhaps we can also blame them for a lot of the drivel that came out of the 90s).

I don’t know about anti christian…they came from Germany and they wore dark clothes…they are not even slightly like this anymore…its a name that people have given a certain group of people with a different dress sense…they don’t ‘COME FROM’ this group of Germans and they certainly are not at all like them. They were named after them as an offence because they wore darker clothes, I guess the name has just stuck.

Yes I am from wirral…Are any of your friends young and catholic?
i think you’re thinking about darks. not sure though, so i wont point fingers.

Most of my friends are agonostic/atheist. A few are Charismatic evangelical and about 10 are Catholic. The Catholic ones are either in monasteries or live in places like Inverness!. The Ones from the North West are really nice people but are left-leaning liberal agnostic-types…It can be hard to get on but we got the Saints e.t.c.

Thanx…actually a teen heard that song and stopped having sex with his girlfriend, broke up with her, confessed and is on fire for God now…God rocks!

Do you guys think that Iron Maiden would be acceptable for a Christian to listen to despite songs such as From Here to Eternity, Holy Smoke, and Number of the Beast?

I think the relevant question is “Why do you want to listen to songs like this?” Your answer there will guide your answer to the first question (and I don’t think the answer to the first question is necessarily no).

For me, pretty much everything from the '50s to some of the newer stuff (oldies, punk, metal, etc.). I tend to stay away from a lot of hip hop and extreme punk/metal, though a lot of times there end up being guilty pleasures 😊

This thread is veeeery old. You are not supposed to resurrect old ones, so why not start a new one of your own? 🙂
