Hello everybody on Apologetics! I know this might be a stupid question, but I’d music by the band Queen sinful? I really enjoy there music, and wanted to know if it was actually sinful or not… only certain songs? I know some are fairly… edgy to say the least (e.g. Fat Bottomed Girls). So is it okay to listen to their songs? I am looking specifically for a Catholic answer. Thank you!

You’re allowed to enjoy art and music, but use your judgement.
If you find it offensive, don’t listen.
Just because one song by an artist is offensive doesn’t mean you have to reject everything by them.

Edgy was the word I chose for lack of words. It has a fairly edgy topic, which is a song about girls with large bottoms.

Freddie and Queen have their place.

But give me the Moody Blues for greatest band evah.

My question for you would be, “Do you believe in what they are saying enough to act upon it?”

You can listen to their music without agreeing with them. In fact - if they were your enemy - it would be kind of naive and weak, if you didn’t know them well enough to say you disagree with them.

On the other hand, if you can hear them out mercifully, and yet stand up for what is right - then you speak with both understanding and conviction.

To me - the latter is the Catholic course of action…

Forget Big Bottom… when the dwarf kicked over Stonehenge… that was cool…

Queen might have the best lyrics in rock music, outside of the Beatles.

I LOVE Queen and still miss Freddie Mercury.i cried when he died. I doubt listening to their music is sinful.

Freddie was evasive on what their song Bohemian Rhapsody was about. I’ve always thought it was prophetic, except AIDS wasn’t really much known about when he wrote the song.

is this a joke? queen is extremely satanic. he mentions in multiple songs to be possessed by devils, that satan set aside a demon for him, dresses as Satan, we are the champions is about homosexuals, he was a cross dressing homosexual that died of aids.

he also claimed to have sold his soul and had a diamond glove he said was a gift from Satan himself.

oh and another lyric says to not trust what you read in the bible.

and the name queen is a reference itself to homosexuals

if you don’t believe this i can site YouTube videos you can see for yourself but I don’t recommend it.

One of my favorite Queen songs, written by Brian May is”Teo Torrriatte (Let Us ClingTogether)”. I’d love to have the chorus written on a plate and glazed.

Freddie Mercury:

"Years ago I thought up the name ‘Queen’… It’s just a name, but it’s very regal obviously, and it sounds splendid…It’s a strong name, very universal and immediate"

I think I’ll pass on the videos.

we cannot sell our souls because we don’t own them. that and the glove thing and other things are likely the result of too many drugs.

And you know if a rock band is singing about the devil, at least they believe it exists and are spreading truth. So many people these days do not believe the devil exists.
