I think of the Father as being much more abstract than most others do. I’m even wary of the anthropomorphism of Him that is assumed by associating him with the term “Father” and all that may bring into association in any given mind.
Plus it seems at times like He gets mad and wipes out entire cities because of a sinner, but then Jesus paints a different picture almost of indifference:
Matt 5
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors[a] do the same?
Plus I get into the Cloud of the Unknowing, where I presume that all the knowledge and imagination I can ever have about the nature of God, is a hopelessly tiny speck, the “Cloud of Knowing,” and the path to God is to break out of that “old wineskin” and into the Cloud. So basically setting myself up to experience and appreciate mystery itself, and especially lose attachments to any of my thoughts because any of them could be wrong, is a form that describes a contemplative action that works for my like contemplative prayer.
So I’d say God is like all there is, personal or not I don’t care because if He were personal I can’t relate or figure him out anyway so there is the Son, who is a perfect opening in the worlds between the kingdom of His God-calibrated vision and the ugly world. So that showed us as transparently as humanly possible a portal into the nature of the Father. And the strange juxtaposition of evil and mercy we saw at the cross.
Our physical universe and any supernatural beings like demons and angels and stuff, are just one aspect of this God.
Jesus was just like us, except without the ability to develop a social ego that is subject to the fear and egoic influences that makes people become unbalanced in ways of right and wrong, and self v. other, etc. We loved Him, were healed by Him, were given hope by Him, but He overstimulated the hive mind and the power and control sentinels killed Him to preserve order and ego.
The Holy Spirit is my scapegoat for everything, and is delighted to be the leader. I can get frustrated because I don’t like my past, or not trust Him because I fear my future, or I can sit back without worry for tomorrow and focus on today, which is both what Jesus told us and psychologically sound advice. The HS may or may not have personality; it’s like the wind I don’t see it but I feel it or see its influence. It is that part of God that beams energy around at such a fundamental level that what we now call matter and energy are just highly specialized forms of this. Like radio waves can carry thousands of conversations through our head we’re not even aware of, but we have adapted our technology to pick them up and by the way send them in the first place – so might be spiritual principles at work… Invisible, or even subliminally as in microexpressions when face to face and Freudian slips when online – messages of heart are communicated that bypass speech processors and even the greatest actors can only fool so many people. They couldn’t fool people with certain purity level like Jesus or St. Pio; their masks “persona – as in the Greek” didn’t conceal their human nature.
We are all one spirit, so when I see a worm moving or a person speaking or water falling due to gravity, I see those all as manifestations of the spirit. The “life energy” that which creates and destroys like in Ecclesiastes “time for everything.” Things that are alive must change or they wouldn’t be alive. God is not alive in the way a human is alive – because He’s never different so He had to condescend to form a human version of Himself that was finite in time and therefore could develop over a lifetime.
But I got distracted by Jesus the shiny object and the Light, when I was talking about the H.S. Because the HS is just so cool and unconcerned He doesn’t care whether He gets my credit or not. He just does His thing and if I make this decision, He does that just like a ripple goes this way or that depending on where in the pond I tossed the stick.
I think that the Holy Spirit’s complexity and wonder – and hence the alleged “mysterious mind” of God – is exemplified by our science of Quantum Physics. Relativity showed us how much the world can differ from our perception. Quantum Physics shows us that the world is so weird that really none of our rules can be assumed to apply outside our limited context. By extension, God the Father is weirder than quantum physics. The Holy Spirit is the mechanism of the physics – including the basis of the “life force” – and Jesus is what happens when forget to add the smelly stuff to the gas supply. You get the power without the human stench.
