By the way, did your family members have their babies? Did they keep them? (I’m sorry, but you opened the door to that.)
I’ll send you a PM on the rest, per the OP’s request. But as for this one, I keep my name out of posts specifically so I have the freedom to tell true stories without harming anyone I know. One had her baby and is a single mom to this day (more than a decade later) with no regrets (if some significant hardships). The other had a serious drug problem that she got under control when she found out she was pregnant. With the help of a shelter similar to that being discussed here, she gave birth to a healthy baby and gave it up for adoption to an infertile couple (who have turned out to be awesome parents). Unfortunately, her drug problems came back quite quickly and when she got pregnant again her controlling boyfriend brought her to Planned Parenthood for a referral and pressured for an abortion without any other outside (name removed by moderator)ut, which she did. (Granted we only have her side of the story on this, but given his later conviction for battering her, it seems pretty legit). There’s plenty more going on there about trying to help her since, but there’s only so much you can do for an adult who doesn’t want help.

The relevant point here is that in the only two data points I have close personal experience with, the crisis pregnancy centers and pregnant women’s shelters have proven to be crucial in saving baby’s lives against the fear and hopelessness that often accompanies a woman in unexpected pregnancy, regardless of what she should or shouldn’t have known about the risks of sexual activity.

I’ll send you a PM about the places she experienced.
