I was raised a liberal baptist protestant by my mother when I was younger. Of Course I do not practice it now. I have been going to church mass quite frequently and I know that I come out of mass even more Conservative than when I went in. I notice that Protestants and Baptists are very very liberal in their views like Divorce, Sex out of Wedlock, beer drinking, chain smoking, porn, abortion, and other disgusting things.
I know that Roman Catholics promote Pro Life, Anti Divorce, Sobriety, Anti Smoking, Anti Porn, and the Best things in life. I know that Roman Catholics are a lot smarter than Protestants in their morals and views. They are very conservative just like me. How would I confront a LIBERAL PROTESTANT if they are trying to impose their wills on me? I ask this because sometimes when I am at work I have ran into very liberal protestants who try to impose their wills on me. The liberal protestants “WILL” try to impose their wills on people and like the Jehovah’s Witnesses they will corner you. If you say no they will keep bothering. How would I let the Protestants know that their religions know that their views are not right? Would anybody know?

Try to avoid them and don’t respond to anything they say. I thought Baptist didn’t drink.

What kind of Baptists do you know? 🙁 All the Baptists I have ever known or known of are super conservative on social and moral issues. Not doubting your word; just curious.

Same here. The word “liberal” is not one I would apply to the average Baptist.

The Baptists I know are quite traditional on a number of these issues.

And there are many Catholics who are very lax or negligent about these, regardless of what the Church teaches.

Your zeal is good, but I think for now you should focus on your own prayer life and community. Learn why the Church teaches what it does on these moral issues.

Just want to address the assumption that it is only Protestants that seem to have liberal views on social issues related to the theology. This is not the case. I can tell you unequivocally that many people that I have known to have been most vociferous in their views on pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, sex out of wedlock, etc., were people who refer to themselves as Roman Catholics. So the issue of liberal Christianity is not limited to a specific denomination, it is a broad issue facing the entirety of the Christian community as we in the body of Christ are faced with ideas and philosophies that are contrary to Christianity. Unfortunately, many don’t seem to have an issue with holding onto two distinct and contradictory paradigms (a common thing especially in American society).

I think you would do so in the same way that conservative Protestants do. When confronted with an issue that violates scripture, we go back to scripture to discuss why we believe what we believe and allow the word of God to do its thing.

I don’t think this is fair to say. Your post makes a lot of generalisations, a lot of which simply aren’t true. It may be that the Protestants you know are liberal but this is certainly not the case for every single Protestant.

“I am working. I would prefer not to discuss X”.
If you say no they will keep bothering.
Tell your boss.

Don’t. The Protestants you speak of don’t sound interested in your beliefs and I doubt you would do anything other than make everyone very annoyed.

Yeah since when does Catholic = Anti Smoking and Anti-Drinking?

Protestants and Baptists are very very liberal in their views like Divorce, Sex out of Wedlock, beer drinking, chain smoking, porn, abortion, and other disgusting things.
I don’t know what sort of Protestants and Baptists you know, but, Baptists consider everything above a sin except Divorce and often abortion, they also find dancing to be a sin. “Protestants” is too general.

Some of the things you list (drinking, smoking) are not sinful as long as they are done in moderation.
How would I confront a LIBERAL PROTESTANT if they are trying to impose their wills on me?
Again, can you define this a little more? Are there Protestants trying to make you chain smoke, use porn or have an abortion??

Where are you from? Maybe there is some cultural context we are missing?

Just beer.

So that means no pizza either. (My economics professor used pizza and beer as complementary products. Thank goodness milk isn’t sinful - because then - no oreos(!))

That’s not how Baptists are where I live, at least not the ones that regularly attend church. They are conservative and definitely anti-drinking. Drinking is considered a sin in the southern Baptist denomination and most others. Now on the other hand, many Catholics at my parish are democrat and maybe liberal as well. And catholics are allowed to drink.

I am catholic, but were I not, I’d find the original post extremely offensive and arrogant. “Liberal” and “conservative” are terms that belong in the realm of politics. When people try to apply them to church, it appears to be only a means to justify some sort of iffy behavior.

Unless you are a hermit, you are always going to be around people who believe differently than you believe. In the workplace, it is not OK for one person to harrass another person over these differences. Unless you express to the harrasser that you feel they are harrassing you, they may not believe they are. First step is to tell them you don’t discuss religion in the workplace. If that doesn’t work, you need to tell them you feel they are harassing you and that if they don’t stop you will need to take it up with H/R. Then do it, if the behavior continues.

You make some pretty broad, negative and condescending judgements about Protestants in your OP. I hope you aren’t conveying those opinions to anyone in the workplace. If so, I can understand why some may come right back at you, so to speak, as a result.
